The Innstead Mountain Getaway sits atop 2,000 pristine acres at the western boundary of the White Mountain National Forest. Located in rural Pike, NH, this space has long been a setting for family and community sustenance. John and Joan Wolter purchased the land in 1976 from a local family of dairy farmers for use as an idyllic space in which to carry out their pioneering experiential education vision. In collaboration with the Wolter family, The Innstead builds upon this legacy today by providing an authentic experience for guests who seek the comforts of an inn with a genuine connection to this rustic natural landscape.
In 2013, native New Englanders Siobhan and Bill took a chance and moved to town, sight unseen, to have a go at boarding school life. Since that time, they’ve devoted much of their life together to rearing and teaching children, growing roots in the Upper Valley, quietly aspiring to outdo one another in the kitchen, and exploring this land that they now call home. Bill and Siobhan are passionate adventurers, travelers, foodies, and all-around life enthusiasts who delight in showing people a good time. They live on site with their three daughters.
